Springbank 16 Year Old Local Barley

The 1st release in the 5-expression Springbank Local Barley range. Made with barley grown at Low Machrimore Farm in the south of the Kintyre peninsula. Distilled in September 1999, matured in 80% bourbon casks and 20% sherry casks and bottled in January 2016. A total of 9,000 bottles were produced. Bottled at 54.3%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Initially sweet and briny before notes of butter shortbread, vanilla, pear drops and raisin develop.

Palate: Sweet and rounded with a very subtle peat influence combining with butter tablet, soft fruit and mineral notes.

Finish: A long evolving finish with notes reminiscent of our earthy dunnage warehouses. The peat is slightly more prominent and integrates well with lighter notes of candy and lemon zest.
